This paper deals with two different ways of making social choices: choosing the best alternative or ordering them. The study consisted of a survey based on the Brazilian 2018 national elections with students of a course on decision-making processes. The survey tested three hypotheses: 1) the existence of a paradox is probable since there is a possibility that the candidate with the most votes is also the most rejected; 2) the change in a candidate affects the outcome; 3) it is possible to generate a different result when changing the voting system. The results collected confirmed hypotheses 1 and 3 but refuted hypothesis 2. In 2019, winemakers around the world produced between 258.3 and 267.4 million hectoliters. It is a segment with standardized operations, susceptible to evaluation for its efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficiency of wineries located in Brazil and Portugal, using Data Envelopment Analysis. The efficiency frontier was established based on data generated by the BCC-input model, allowing to visualize and analyze the performance of eighteen wineries. Classical efficiency, inverted efficiency, and compound and normalized data were obtained. Regarding the normalized composite efficiency analysis, the only decision-making unit (DMU) that maintained its index equal to one (1.0) or 100%, was company C. This company was the only one in the set of eighteen companies analyzed that presented efficient operations. Thus, company C has a good performance in the variables in which it stands out, and does not have a poor performance in the variables in which it does not stand out. It is considered a trendy food and has properties to slow aging and help prevent disease. This study adopted the premises of the stakeholder theory to examine the perception of stakeholders about aspects impacting a family business based on blueberry production and commercialization. A qualitative case study guided by the stakeholder theory was developed, collecting data through ten semi-structured interviews with representatives shareholders, employees, customers, suppliers, creditors, and society. According to the theory, the company would cease to exist without these actors. Thus, the family company must plan and execute activities based on the perspective of the stakeholder theory. This work contributes to the theory offering evidence that stakeholders have a direct relationship with the family business and generate sustainable, social, and economic value. As a practical contribution, categories of analysis of the family business are developed, linking them to the perspectives of the theory, and evidencing both the different perceptions of the stakeholders and a management practice that benefits the relationships, where everyone can contribute and obtain gains. The single case study is a limitation of this research, since results can be biased.
