Repositório FGV de Periódicos e Revistas
The aim of Estudos Históricos is to publish new papers with a historical perspective from researchers from the Brazilian and international academic community in the areas of History, Social Science, and related subjects.
Only unpublished articles and bibliographic essays by those with doctorates or doctoral students will be accepted. The editors will be responsible for analyzing manuscripts in advance, with the purpose of identifying any improper behavior related to plagiary or self-plagiary, conferring previous publications from the same author and third parties about the same theme. If any improper conduct is identified, Estudos Históricos will not assess the article, informing those involved of the decision.
All articles presented to the Editors will be submitted to two or more peer reviewers to be evaluated. Confidentiality will be maintained about both the latter and the authors. Peer review reports can recommend: a) full acceptance of the text; b) complete refusal; c) acceptance with minor modifications; d) acceptance with significant modifications, with the text in these last two cases being resent to the author for alterations.
The final decision about the publication of a manuscript will always be at the discretion of the Editors, who will be attentive to the geographic distribution of the authors to be published. Equally, the Editors reserve the right to ask for alterations in the originals. Alterations referring to standardization and revision, introduced by the Editors themselves, will always aim to maintain the homogeneity and quality of the journal, respecting the style and opinion of the authors. Texts in English and Spanish, when accepted by the Editors, will be published in their original language and, whenever possible, will be translated into Portuguese.
All articles sent to the journal must be accompanied by a list of up to six keywords identifying the principal subjects dealt with and an abstract in Portuguese, with translations in English and Spanish, with a maximum of 100 words, clearly stating the purposes, methods used, and the principal conclusions of the paper.
If the article results from research supported by funding agencies, this should be mentioned. The Editors should also be provided with data about the author (title, institutional affiliation, etc.) and two declarations: one about responsibility and originality, and the second, the cession of copyright (cf. the models infra). Articles published in the journal can also be made available in different media and on the Internet.
Bibliographic essays must be structured around a critical analysis of the relevant Brazilian and international bibliography, produced in the last five years, and related to the specific theme of the journal.
After the publication of the article in Estudos Históricos, the author will be subject to a period of two years without being able to submit a new proposed article. Author(s) who collaborate as peer reviewers cannot submit articles to the same issue of the journal with which they collaborated.
Estudos Históricos does not charge for submission.
All journal articles are freely available for access and downloading. Authors are responsible for the content of their articles, certifying that the text does not contain plagiary, self-plagiary, or the publication of the results of fraudulent research. Copyright must be respected and the articles properly cited. Permission for use with lucrative purposes must be obtained from CPDOC – Center of Research and Documentation of the Contemporary History of Brazil - eh@fgv.br or faleconosco.cpdoc@fgv.br.

Submission period between February 1st, 2021 and May 1st, 2021
Release on September 1st, 2021
The ‘Revista Estudos Históricos’ presents the Oral History Dossier and invites researchers to submit new articles on the theme, in view of the challenges posed at the same time by this methodology of research and production of sources.
This methodology has been developed since the late 1950s and it is widely used and consolidated around the world. Oral History reaches the 21st century catalyzed by discussions of Public History, as well as by new technologies, which call into question new forms of recording, interaction, preservation and dissemination of oral and audiovisual narratives. In this sense, this Dossier is particularly interested in articles that discuss these dimensions and bring reflections on the interactions and responses of Oral History to the current scenario.
