Challenges for logistics tech strartups in the Sino-Brazilian market: the case of BR Express

Cross-border e-commerce is a modern phenomenon that has been growing fast. China, as the global e-commerce market leader, is exporting a large quantity of consumer goods abroad with its attractive pricing and great variety. However, although the Sino-Brazilian e-commerce market is growing fast, only the state-owned postal service company (Correios) has the privilege of tax exemption, thus holding back the cross-border e-commerce market to be developed by logistics tech startups. This teaching case elaborates the challenges in the logistics industry in Brazil and proposes discussions for the logistics tech startups.
