Abstract

Este livro é o segundo de uma série realizada pela rede de pesquisas "Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies", um consórcio de 10 institutos de pesquisa e universidades dos quatro continentes da Bacia Atlântica, coordenado pela FGV NPII. Na geopolítica atual, os interesses comerciais estão em fluxo contínuo. A Bacia do Atlântico é sede de um importante ator mundial, os Estados Unidos e, embora longe de outros importantes centros emergentes, como a China, sofre, no entanto, os efeitos dos padrões globais de comércio e investimento em rápida mudança. Este volume combina as opiniões de especialistas da rede Jean Monnet com as de diplomatas, negociadores e empresários. Inclui capítulos que tratam de aspectos novos da narrativa comercial, bem como discursos e debates realizados durante a reunião da Rede no Rio de 2018. Oferece uma contribuição única, do ponto de vista da Comunidade Atlântica, para a compreensão de um momento específico nos complexos desenvolvimentos das relações econômicas internacionais.

In current geopolitics, trade and commercial interests are in continual flux. The Atlantic Basin is host to a major world actor, the United States, and, though far from other key emerging centers, like China, suffers nonetheless from the effects of fast-changing trade and investment global patterns. This volume combines the views of specialists from the Jean Monnet Network with those of diplomats, negotiators and businessmen. It includes chapters dealing with novel aspects of the trade narrative as well as speeches and debates held during the 2018 Rio meeting of the Network. It offers a unique contribution, from an Atlantic Community perspective, to the understanding of a specific moment in the complex developments of the international economic relations.
