State and society in the 90's: pendulous cartography upon Latin America

This paper analyzes several fundamental characteristics of State/society relations in the so-called postindustrial and postmodern age, from the perspectives of some contemporary philosophers and social sciemists. It aims at drawing some scenarios concerning not only the currem civilization crisisbut ais o specifically the crisis of the social-political institutions in Latin America. It emphasizes the redefinition of the role of the State, taking imo accoum the relevance of social democratization and the challenges for civil society to cope with.
