Mission

The mission of RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas is to encourage the production and dissemination of knowledge about Business Administration

Focus

RAE  is interested in publishing theoretical development articles, empirical studies and essays. The Journal accepts contributions from Brazil and abroad in the fields of Business Administration. We encourage a wide range of approaches and views. As a journal with a more general approach to the area we cover a broad spectrum of sub-fields of knowledge, views and issues. The public reader is comprised of academic body – professors, researchers and students – as well as a significant selection from the business community. Therefore, they represent an audience interested in sound analytical content and consistency.

Submission

Articles should be sent to RAE through ScholarOne, an online submission and paper management system which we operate in partnership with SciELO: http://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/rae-scielo.

Articles can be submitted in Portuguese, English or Spanish, observing the correct format, text positioning and style, as well as the standardization norms specific to the section the work falls into. It is essential to carefully read the RAE-publications Guidelines, especially the Format and Author sections, for an efficient preparation of the article.

The articles published in RAE are bilingual: Portuguese/English or Spanish/English. After approval, it is the authors’ responsibility to provide the English version when the text is submitted in Portuguese or Spanish.

Authors can only submit one article at a time (this rule also applies to calls for papers), i.e., during the time an article is being evaluated, its authors cannot submit another one, whether as the main author or a co-author. If the article is rejected in one of the steps of the process, the authors may submit the same article, provided it has been returned in the "reject & resubmit" status, or submit a new article.

RAE does not charge any fees for submission and publication of articles (APC-Author Processing Charge).

RAE does not accept articles whose underlying data have been published already, prioritizing a blind peer review.

Originality and exclusivity

Articles submitted for publication to RAE  must be previously unpublished and cannot be undergoing a process of consideration by any other publication. Articles previously published in preprint repositories, or other forms of publication that may change the originality of the manuscript, are not accepted.  It should be emphasized that works presented at Scientific Conferences are still considered original.

Review process

Articles submitted to the RAE first pass through a preliminary triage in terms of format (to see whether they meet expected norms and formats) and then pass through a system that detects similarities. They are then evaluated in a triple-blind system, performed in four stages:

  1. A preliminary evaluation conducted by the Editor-in-Chief, who examines whether the work fits into the journal’s general scope and its potential for publication;

  2. A blind review conducted by a member of the Scientific Editorial Board or an invited specialized researcher, who seeks to identify the article’s contribution to the area, being able to reject it or forward it to referees;

  3. A blind review conducted by two referees, appointed by the member of the scientific editorial board, who can recommend improvement or rejection of the text;

  4. A blind review conducted by the same Scientific Editor (from step 2): the two evaluation reports are again reviewed by the scientific editor, who can add suggestions for the development of the article or recommend its rejection. This step involves continuing reassessments and gathering resources to improve the article.

Preparation for publication

After an article is approved, it is submitted for editing and revised for any spelling and grammar mistakes. The Editorial Office sends the final version to the authors for their approval and any updates, such as institutional affiliations.

RAE is going to publish articles in continuous flow maintaining the bimonthly periodicity.

History

Pioneering spirit and tradition

RAE is the first Business Administration journal in Brazil, launched in May 1961 by FGV-EASP in order to promote critical reflection and study in the field. As the pioneer of its kind, its earliest issues brought articles on administration practices with contents produced by professors at EAESP as well as translated from international journals.

Authors like Bresser Pereira, Eduardo Suplicy, Edgard Carone, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Gareth Morgan, Henrique Rattner, Henry Mintzberg, Luiz Gonzaga Belluzo, Mark Granovetter, Maurício Tragtenberg, Octaviano Ianni, Prestes Motta, Raimar Richers, Ruth Cardoso and Stephen Kanitz have published their ideas at RAE.

RAE continues to widen its internationalization in order to engage the international community in publishing relevant works that not only will foster knowledge but also encourage the Brazilian scientific production. Therefore, RAE promotes cross-border visibility for the ideas and thoughts of its authors.

As a review connected to our times, always keeping up with scientific developments in Business Administration, RAE proposes and participates in discussions about major national issues and ideas.

An innovative journal

Since it was founded, RAE has been continuously modernizing itself and innovating in terms of internal management and ways of reaching its public, whether by crossing Brazilian borders or assessing its environmental impact.

A high-impact journal

RAE appears in renowned directories and it is still working on increasing the number of directories for the periodical, thus contributing to spread knowledge and increase its borderless exchange.

RAE has been approved and included in the Social Sciences Citation Index;  in the Journal Citation Reports, of Thomson Reuters; and of Redalyc. It has also been recently approved by JSTOR, ProQuest, Google Scholar and Sumários Brasileiros de Revistas Científicas. It has been indexed since several years ago in SciELO, EBSCO, Scopus, DOAJ, Gale Cengage Learning, Cabell's, HAPI, IBSS, Latindex and Ullrichs.

In recent years, institutions like the City University London, Havard University Library, HEC-Paris, Università Bocconi, Universidad de Guadalajara, Université du Québec, University of East London, University of Phoenix, University of Texas, Université Paris Dauphine and Università di Roma have acquired articles published in RAE through the Ebsco database.

According to an article published in RAE-Eletrônica in 2008, “RAE appears as the magazine with highest impact factor in Administration, with a significant difference from the other Brazilian journals”. The study suggests also that magazines with a high impact factor such as RAE “stand out from the rest in number of citations, since its articles penetrate not only in the academic but also the corporate environment.”
