Abstract

This exploratory and descriptive study tested one application of the IMP Interaction
Model developed by the International Marketing and Purchasing Group (IMP Group) researchers. The
sample with 83 dairy farmers and 28 respondents from milk processing companies revealed, with a
statistical significance level of 0.05, that geographical concentration and information exchange (technical and administrative) constructs contribute for buyers and sellers collaborative relationship. This
result leads to conclude that logistics systems and the adoption of both process and information technologies are essential for Brazilian milk production chain competitiveness. In addition, IMP Interaction
Model has been proved to be efficient in showing the main constructs contribution for development
and maintenance of collaborative relationships between buyers and sellers.
