Imprensa e educação ambiental: poluição do ar por dióxido de enxofre (SO2) no município do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

This work has as an objective, first the analysis of the treatment that the big presse gave to the news in relation to air pollution through dioxide sulphur (S02) in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the years 1982-83. Following newspapers had been consulted, Jornal do Brasil, O Globo, Ultima Hora, Tribuna da Imprensa e O Dia. The first chapter shows the administrative situation as well the legislative and the history of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Further that we judge important the presentation of some existents concepts about the environment. We suplly too a picture of the environment situation in our city. The third chapter discusses then what becomes to be the environment education from some points of view. We search too, to situate the newspapers as non-formal educaters and we questioned the accomplish, through the newspapers from their main function: to informe the population about the facts that it surrounds.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo primeiro analisar o tratamento que a grande imprensa dispensou às notícias relativas à poluição do ar por dióxido de enxofre (S02) no município do Rio de Janeiro, nos anos de 1982-83. Foram consultados os seguintes diários: Jornal do Brasil, O Globo, Ultima Hora, Tribuna da Imprensa e O Dia. O primeiro capítulo apresenta a situação administrativa, legislativa e histórica do município do Rio de Janeiro, após o que julgamos importante a apresentação dos vãrios conceitos existentes sobre meio ambiente. Fornecemos também um quadro da situação ambiental de nosso municfpio. O capítulo terceiro discute então o que vem a ser educação ambiental sob vãrios pontos de vista. Procuramos também situar os jornais como educadores não formais e questionamos o cumprimento, pelos jornais da função que lhe e primeira: informar a população dos fatos que a cerca.
