Estudo do uso de sistemas de apoio ao executivo nas empresas

Abstract

Esta tese é um estudo qualitativo sobre a utilização de EIS - Executive Information Systems (Sistemas de Apoio ao Executivo) entre as maiores empresas americanas e brasileiras, incluindo a percepção dos usuários com relação aos benefícios obtidos e desafios enfrentados advindos da implementação dos principais produtos disponíveis no mercado, indicando que as ferramentas desenvolvidas em função do advento da Internet e os Sistemas Integrados de Gestão Empresarial podem substituir os pacotes de EIS

This work presents the main aspects regarding the use of Executive Information Systems among the largest American and Brazilian companies, including the executives perception about it. That was done via two surveys: one conducted in The United States of America, supported by Graduate SchooI of Business of The University of Texas at Austin and another one conducted in Brazil supported by Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getúlio Vargas. The surveys are identical and the answers have great similarity showing in a clear way the popularization of the EIS use among Iarge organizations. New organization standards change and constant technological innovations are starting to draw a new future for this kind of system that targets to supply the executives with qualified, selected and consolidated information, considered by them as critical components for the business strategic guidance. At the late 90's it is possible to note the popularization of the Internet/Intranet and the ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems influencing the EIS expansion inside organizations. According to the executives' perception, showed by the survey answers, they are satisfied with the results although they consider the technology used for the EIS implementation expensive and inappropriate.
