O artigo apresenta a trajetória política e diplomática de Oscar Camilión, uma das mais proeminentes figuras da política externa argentina no último século. Sua narração inicia-se no governo Frondizi, quando Camilión assume uma importante posição no Ministério das Relações Exteriores e Culto, e concluindo-se com o escândalo da venda ilegal de armamentos argentinos à Croácia e ao Equador enquanto Camilión estava à frente do Ministério da Defesa do governo Menem. O argumento principal é de que, em quatro momentos cruciais da política externa argentina, Camilión teria tido um papel de definição em busca do desenvolvimento industrial. O texto enfatiza ainda as relações bilaterais com o Brasil e a estreita influência que Camilión possuiu na mesma. This article presents the political and diplomatic history of Oscar Camilión, one of the most prominent figures of the Argentinean foreign policy in the last century. The reading starts at Frondizi’s government, when Camilión took charge of an important position at the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Cult, and end up with the scandal of sale of illegal weapons to Croatia and Ecuador, when Camilión was heading the Ministry of Defense of Menem’s government. The core argument presented is that in four decisive moments on the Argentinean foreign policy, Camilión has taken a pivotal role on industrial development. Yet the text emphasizes Argentinian bilateral relations with Brazil and stresses the narrow influence that Camilión has exerted on it.
