Abstract
The article aims to demonstrate that productive announced investments constitute an important conjuntural indicator to follow the evolution of economic activity in a certain territory. Based on Seade Foundation's research about announced investments destined to Sao Paulo State, it shows the distribution of resources announced by private and state enterprises along the period 2003-2008. These results make possible to identify the main sectorial and regional tendencies, signaling new business opportunities for investors and the eventual need of public sector's intervention to induct and regulate the development process.
