As artes plásticas nos anos 1970 e a atuação da FUNARTE

Abstract

A presente pesquisa se dedica ao entendimento da criação da Funarte e sua atuação em seus anos iniciais, como marca de uma nova postura do governo federal, no campo das artes plásticas. A Funarte reuniu críticos, teóricos, historiadores e artistas, que por meio da teoria e da prática buscaram contribuir com projetos pioneiros através dos quais encontramos a formulação de uma política para arte contemporânea, que inicialmente se refletiu no apoio à realização de pesquisas. Na historiografia há poucas análises do período em que ocorreu a criação e implementação das principais estratégias da instituição; para tanto, talvez seja necessário pontuar que minha intenção transdisciplinar usa uma metodologia que tem como foco enredar o fio histórico da arte na trama de outros tantos fios da vida cultural. Assim, história política e memória tornam-se fundamentais para o alargamento das vias de compreensão do tema proposto. Busco pensar a relação entre censura estatal e fomento às práticas artísticas contemporâneas, defendendo uma nova relação entre 1976-1979, quando personagens que inicialmente haviam sido perseguidos ou mantinham uma postura crítica ao governo autoritário, neste momento ganham apoio para pesquisas sobre artes visuais. Logo, quando a arte contemporânea aparece dentro da Funarte, ela não aparece na forma de exposições, nem na forma de apoio direto ao trabalho do artista. Um fato próprio dessa relação da Funarte com arte contemporânea nesse momento inicial é a reflexão sobre o passado com foco em sua influência no presente.

The present research is dedicated to the understanding of the creation of Funarte and its performance in its initial years, as a brand new posture of the federal government, in the field of plastic arts. Funarte brought together critics, theoreticians, historians and artists, who through theory and practice sought to contribute to pioneering projects through which we find the formulation of a policy for contemporary art, which was initially reflected in the support of research. In historiography there are few analyzes of the period in which the creation and implementation of the main strategies of the institution took place, so it may be necessary to point out that my transdisciplinary intention uses a methodology that focuses on tracing the historical thread of art in the cultural life. Thus, political history and memory become fundamental for the extension of the ways of understanding the proposed theme. I try to think of the relationship between state censorship and the promotion of contemporary artistic practices, defending a new relationship between 1976-1979, when characters who had initially been persecuted or held a critical stance to authoritarian rule are now gaining support for visual arts research. Therefore, when contemporary art appears within Funarte, it does not appear in the form of exhibitions, nor in the form of direct support for the artist's work, a fact peculiar to this relationship of Funarte with contemporary art in this initial moment is the reflection on the past with focus on their influence in the present.
