O drama de ser dois: um sociólogo engravatado

Abstract

The objective of this article is to describe an under-studied period of the life and work of Guerreiro Ramos and his function as an employee of the Departamento Administrativo do Serviço Público (DASP). There are many studies about him which not only describe his intellectual engagement with the destiny of the country, but also as one of the leading sociologists who instituted critical analysis of social systems in the country. This article relates to the period of 1943 to 1951 in which the sociologist warrior carried out technical and bureaucratic functions in DASP and also wrote summaries and articles about books and authors for the Revista do Serviço Público of the same institution which were to become classics in the history of sociologist thought around the world.

O presente texto tem como objetivo descrever um momento pouco estudado sobre a vida e obra de Guerreiro Ramos, qual seja, a sua atuação como funcionário no Departamento Administrativo do Serviço Público (DASP). Vários são os estudos daquele que foi não só um intelectual engajado com os destinos do país, mas, também, um dos principais sociólogos que instituíram no país o exame crítico dos sistemas sociais organizados. Assim, a descrição aqui proposta abrangerá o período de 1943 a 1951, fase na qual o sociólogo Guerreiro exerceu funções burocráticas e técnicas no DASP, bem como escreveu, na Revista do Serviço Público do mesmo Departamento, resenhas e/ou artigos sobre livros e autores que se tornaram clássicos na história do pensamento sociológico mundial.
